MyVisionTest is intended to supplement conventional Amsler Grid monitoring, not replace it. If your eye doctor recommends that you check your vision with an Amsler Grid, you should do so daily and inform him of any changes in your vision that occur.

MyVisionTest offers several important advantages over the conventional Amsler Grid, such as superior sensitivity, and the ability to save your results, but is not a replacement for it. Because the two tests operate very differently it is possible that changes in your vision may occur that Amsler Grid will detect but MyVisionTest will not detect, and vice versa.

How to use Amsler Grid

• Wear the eyeglasses that you normally wear for reading.

• Position the chart 14 inches away from your face.

• Cover one eye at a time with your hand.

• Stare at the dot in the center. Do not let your eye drift from the center dot.

• Contact your eye doctor immediately if:

  • Any of the straight lines appear wavy or bent,
  • Any of the boxes differ in size or shape from the others, or
  • Any of the lines are missing, blurry or discolored.
